It's very strange what kind of an effect make-up has on a woman. I once heard that when the economy is poor, make-up sales go up. Not sure if this is still true but if so, why? I think we want change. Change for some is to feel refreshed and for others, it's a complete make-over. I know we all have our routine in the morning so we don't look dead and I also know that when women are out shopping for make-up, it's usually because they are feeling like they need a pick me up.

Then you have these women who are going through life changing experiences. This is where my story begins...

Yes, I admit it: I think her life sounds mysterious and fun and I often wonder what it is like to be her. And although there is more about her than just her beauty, you can't help but notice her that way. I met her about seven years ago and I remember walking into her boutique and thinking hmmm, perfect....like a doll. Her voice is soft but loud enough to keep you listening and her hair is thick, wavy and whatever it does on it's own is what we all wish our hair would do after lots of product and some serious time spent in front of the mirror styling & cursing. I must say though what makes her truly exquisite is her love for people and this earth. She takes nothing for granted and the meanest thing I've ever heard her say is that she can't stand when the wrong people get the break or get ahead. She is a happy person filled with inspiration and fueled by celebration.

She has a lot to celebrate. Her life wasn't always this peaceful and stirring. There were many years that went by that left her bored, unmotivated and feeling unloved. Her loyalty kept her from leaving. Leaving a town that never felt like home, leaving a career that was once a passion but soon became a prison, and leaving a man that was in her life for so long that she couldn't separate contamination from contribution. But she did it, she left. She picked a day on the calendar to leave and she left. It was her life long dream to have children and that was something she wasn't willing to give up. Her loyalty towards that idea was what guided her. She didn't take much, just some clothes, jewelry, and her car. Oh, and her cookbooks. I still can't believe the fearless things she did to be liberated. With enough money in the bank she still opted to sleep in her car. "I'm a saver" she said. "If I don't have to spend it I won't. I do find myself buying clothes but that's because we have to right?" she giggles.

She didn't live in her car for long. She has a place she now calls home in California. She also has the career she longed for and a boyfriend that treats her like the woman she is and has always wanted to be. She still longs for children and I believe like everything else she's worked for. it will happen.

Oh and by the way, she felt glamorous with her new make-up look. It was just the change she needed...living her life with a little more color and feeling refreshed.
